LOS ANGELES (June 19, 2020)– Multiple Grammy and Emmy-winning hitmaker Narada Michael Walden, who has produced multi-million-selling smashes for superstars Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and many others, has been signed to Quarto Valley Records. “IMMORTALITYis an album for that part of my fan base,” Walden explains. “I love pop music, but I come from a world in which we mix it all up together – jazz, rock, pop, funk, soul and R&B. A lot of my early fans still want to hear me stretch out and fly, so this record is me drumming and singing and putting my heart out to them. People can hear the love that’s inside of me when they listen to this record.”
Bruce Quarto, QVR founder and CEO added, “We are honored to have Narada join the Quarto Valley Records family of artists. He brings an unparalleled mastery of percussion along with his visionary production and legendary history. We look forward to sharing ‘IMMORTALITY’ with the world knowing, in these difficult times, that great music truly does live forever.”
Before he became a mega-successful producer with hits constantly dominating the pop and R&B charts, Walden burst on the music scene as a virtuoso drummer Mahavishnu Orchestra. Soon after, his impeccable rhythmic chops and inveterate creativity made him a first-call drummer and collaborator for other instrumental heavyweights such as Jeff Beck, Tommy Bolin and Chick Corea.
During the past couple of years, Walden has worked with a wide range of artists – some longtime friends and collaborators, others new talents just coming into their own. He’s produced sets for two bona fide guitar legends: Carlos Santana’s luminous EP In Search of Mona Lisaand Neal Schon’s spellbinding long-form Universe. In addition, he continues his ongoing creative relationship with acclaimed alt-pop/adult-contemporary artist Jennifer Saran as well as current projects with New Age/Classical crossover star Sangeeta, jazz-rock drumming icon Cindy Blackman, bassist singer-songwriter Nic West and upcoming artist Ariel Bowser. This year Walden was tapped to be the new drummer for Journey.
IMMORTALITYwill be released on August 8, 2020.
